Hydronic heating system make banging noise during heating

As with many older systems, including Hot water tanks, a layer of calcium, iron deposits tend to collect on the bottom if in fact that's the case, but while heating the crackling is the water being heated through the deposits and that's where the sound is from. Usually since it's already built up, there is not much you can do to remedy the problem.

    Hydronic Heating System Noise

I have a older hydronic heating system that circulates the water once the water temperature get to the appropriate temperature and continues to circulate and heat the wate as long as the thermostat requests heat. My problem is that during the heating process when the burners are on there is a banging or hammering noise that occurs from the boiler during the heat cycle. I have bled the lines of air but the noise is still there. Any solutions to solving this situation? Please advise.

    Hydronic Heating System Noise

I have a older hydronic heating system that circulates the water once the water temperature get to the appropriate temperature and continues to circulate and heat the water as long as the thermostat requests heat. I have 4 zone valves. My problem is that during the heating process when the burners are on there is a banging or hammering noise that occurs from the boiler during the heat cycle. I have bled the lines of most of the air but the noise is still there. Any solutions to solving this situation? Please advise.

What is your maximum operating temperature

what is your pressure. Does it happen during any zone or just one in particular.

  • What kind of expansion

tank do you have? Also make sure all the flow valves on the system are opening fully. Can you tell exactly what the location of the noise is on the boiler, or is it on the near boiler piping? Are the zone valves near the boiler or remote from the actual boiler location?
