Can't be TOO careful out there Mike.
Why, just the other day, I was cutting up some aluminum Heat Transfer plate using a carbide bladed chop saw, went to put on the protective ear muffs, slipped and almost knocked my eye out...
Now THAT would a tough one to explain to the OSHA people. "He was putting on his hearing protection device and slipped and jarred his eyeball out of its socket..."
BTW, if you were breaking a fitting, you will find that backing it up with another hammer makes the job go MUCH easier. Takes the BOUNCE out of the BITE.
Surround yourself with good friends Mike. I know its been a tough year.
Merry Christmas

Modern Dentistry
Using "enforcer" e.g. sledge hammer over my head today in a confined space. Object I was forcing rebounded and sledge hit me in the face.
"Just" broke off a huge chunk of an upper frontal...with new apprentice watching as I was talking.
Two hours later, back working at the same place and impossible to tell that the UV cured sealant over plastic matrix wasn't my original tooth. Just a patch for a few weeks to ensure that the nerve wasn't damaged before the complete replacement.
Apprentice wants to be a machine operator but we'll be doing gravity piping work.

Ouch is right
Me and another guy were replacing a flange gasket on a 14ft ladder. His wrench slipped nocking him in the face and just about knocked him out. Luckly I was up there with him to grab him. That was lucky and stupid.0 -
You guys are killing me!
Jeez Mike, I hope you're not hurting too much. Sounds like it could have been lots worse. Please be careful.
Hey ME, Stop the work first, then put on the protective gear. Oh, you probably know that! And I don't think there is much of anything that I would be surprised about any more!
I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season.
