Water Level too high

recently replaced the following part of my building's McDonnell Miller Series 51/51-2 Water Feeder/Low Water Cut-Off: 310452 CTRD-51 Cartridge & strainer kit (aka Valve Assembly) I now notice that the water level is above the water mark which is approx. 3 to 4 inches higher than previously. I made no changes to the piping and performed the broken union test, checked for blockages, etc. all with satisfactory results. Everything is as it was except for the new replacement part and the higher water level. Without relocating the water feeder, is there a simple way to adjust the water level? I notice, inside the newly installed part, that there is a silver screw with a slot for use with a flat tip screwdriver. It looks like some sort of adjustment screw. Could it be that this screw is used for that purpose? IF NOT, what's it there for? Thanks for any advice.
