Water Level too high

I recently replaced the following part on my building's Series 51/51-2 Water Feeder/Low Water Cut-Off:
310452 CTRD-51 Cartridge & strainer kit (aka Valve Assembly)
I now notice that the water level is above the water mark and approx. 3 to 4 inches higher than previously. I made no changes to the piping. Everything is as it was except for the new replacement part and the higher water level. Without relocating the water feeder, is there a simple way to adjust the water level?
I notice, inside the newly installed part, that there is a silver screw with slot for use with a flat tip screwdriver. It looks like some sort of adjustment screw. Could it be that this screw used for that purpose?
Thanks for any advice.
