Push nipple radiators

I own a 98yr old inn and it has about 40 steam radiators in it. Great info on this site. I had a leak between sections and had no idea how to proceed. In here I found out it was a push nipple rad and I had it apart in 3 minutes. One suggestion, after taking the holding rods out instead of prying them apart I cut wedges out of wood, put 2 in the top between the sections and one in the bottom (it is against the wall so I could not get 2 in the bottom). I tapped them with a 5lb. sledge hammer and it took all of 30 seconds to get them apart with almost no effort.
