High CO Level

are what you smelled. If you smell them, you definitely are making CO.

Stove burners really aren't much different from atmospheric gas boiler burners, except they can be turned down and can get very dirty from usage. Tim McElwain publishes gas stove training manuals if you're interested. Highly recommended- e-mail him at gastc@cox.net.

I think the worst stove I ever tamed was making 2500 PPM air-free from the oven. The kitchen was in the back of a neighbor's house and I had come to the front door on an unrelated matter- smelled aldehydes from there. I told her to shut it down and went home for my Testo, it cleaned up real nice with only minor adjustments.

    High CO Level

Got a call for a gas leak at truckstop fast food place we service yesterday. Well i get to the place and turn on the gas ,soap everything down and no leak, Well the manager says you could smell it all over the corner of the cookline. So she lights it off and it hits me, that smell you get from gas burning dirty, anna somebody. Well I didnt have my combustion anylizer because I was there for a gas leak.Jump back in the van and get the anylizer the oven /cooktop exhaust has 1800 ppm of CO. I think thats the highest I've ever run into. Didn't really Know what a unit should run at but didnt think it should differ from a furnace much so I told her we start getting concened at 100 ppm and she needs to shut it down. She said she wondered why everybody had been feeling sick in that area, and that was with a full vent hood running. Man it only took about 5 minutes and i had a headache, before I checked it of cource. Just hope she left it off till someone can service the burners, I don't do appliances or windows.

Most burners have shutters on them. I put a pot of water on the burner, set it to high, and adjust from there trying to find the highest reading point around the pot...
Just a guy running some pipes.
