go for less than the cost of 100 gals of heating oil installed!.With the savings guarantee, how can you lose?
It's not a good as a full featured ODR,but look at the cost difference! If it doesn't work out,ask for your money back.
This is a very low cost zero risk investment.

I looked
at the online presentation of the beckett heat manager for residential use, and it seems to me that all it is doing is expanding the differential of the aquastat by lowering the lower set point.
It talks about monitoring the heat load and what not, but looking at their installation, there is no sensor on the return to the boiler.
There is s sensor for DHW, so it is a bit more than just changing the aquastat setting, because it can respond differently to DHW or a call for heat, but if you didn't use DHW, isn't it just an aquastat with a large differential?
I guess, for the price, it's not bad though, but I think they make it out to be a little more mysterious than it really is.
And it does have a couple of cool little LED s on it. Best price I've seen is on EBay.
I think if I keep typing, I'll talk myself right into one.0 -
I looked into them once
and decided, why goof around. Why not spend mu customers money on a real outdoor reset control, and be in control. I saw one on a job and it had multiple zone valves. How is it going to monitor the heating patterns when there are multiple inputs to its data log? In my view it's application has a better chance to work out on a single zone system. WW

Honeywell AQ475A Outdoor Reset
I put one of these in the beginning of the last year heating season. Not to expensive and after a bit of experimenting it works well. I basically watch the supply temperature shut down at different OA temps. Probably between 155 and 185 for any given outside temp. It is supposed to calculate the differential also. No little screen to look at, but then not as sophisticated as a tekmar. It does the job. I also considered a heat manager but went with this.0 -
For the price, in my opinion the Beckett Heat Manager is a great solution for those that want to save money. It is guaranteed by the manufacturer to reduce your fuel consumption by 10%. I agree that there are better systems out there, but not everyone can afford them. It works with zone valves as well as circulators. The only situation that I've run into where it won't be as effective is when the circulator relay such as an 845 isn't connected to ZC-ZR. It has it's limitations and is not for every application.
