Start of heating season tune up and general maintaince. Three seasons old on a 140M Muchkin. Got up north only to find a cold house. Out door reset not working right, no spare had to disable. Cleaned out combustion chamber flushed the condensate drain. Put all back together and lo and behold we got fire on first attempt. Took out analyzer and went to testing here are the results.

    Analyzer

Got this bad boy from the shop I work for. First time I ever used this one and the 3rd time in my life ever using one. Read the book super easy to use very nice package. Printer is self contained. I'm no one to give results as to infrequent use of such. Talked to service guy I received it from said it was the best one yet. Has been with company over 16 years.

Any idea what the temperature of the water returning to the boiler might have been while doing the test? Always wondered how a heat exchanger can heat water when it is cooler than the water?

    Return water

Temp of retun water at high fire was 180+or- did not check at low fire will pay attention next time.

Your 137 degree and 103 degree flue temperatures are the temperatures of the last heat exchanger surface in the boiler. This means that the heat exchanger is extracting heat from the water instead of heating it. This is an indication of excessive underfiring and poor efficiency. Calculated efficiencies on analyzers are increased by underfiring while actual delivered efficiency of equipment goes down. Trick used by manufacturers to get high ratings.

    Why

is there so much excess air. Why wouldn't you want the amount of air to more closely match the amount needed for combustion.

    any recomendations

I used the anaylzer to check CO and CO2 as to why other numbers are why they are sorry I don't know. According to literature on CO/CO2 I was within the parameters. Excess air was due to having the cover off at the time of this testing. I also did testing with cover on but do not have printouts. This is in my house up north and installed by my self. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks
