Is this a Taco 5000 manual valve or the Taco i series?

Heres the problem. I am having a issue when i set up the mixing valve and then the boiler modulates i cant get a even temp to my infloor. homeowner wants to know what we can do for him or if there is a better way to temper the water to his infloor. he has a indirect and two loops of baseboard. he was also asking what is a typical flow in gpm through 1/2 pex. he has 4 loops of infloor tubing. any help would be helpful. this guys sits and watches this boiler all day nothing better to do. want to keep him happy

    that may be a problem

It is sometimes difficult to explain these things sometimes. There is no law that says a manual valve can't be used (I use them myself), but in this instance the customer may have an expectation that is beyond the ability of a manual valve to deliver.

Maybe you can give him a price to install a properly sized electronically controlled 3 way valve, buderus makes one that directly communicates with the boiler.

As far as flow through the loops it is all about temperature drop through the radiant panels, ideally you should try to shoot for a 10 degree temp drop through the panel, though some like myself usually design for 20, it just depends on the application. Although pex is more forgiving with higher flowrates than copper, it still pays to check to make sure you do not have more pump than you really nee dto do the job. To check this all circ manufacturers have charts that you use to figure what flowrate you have at a given head (or pipe friction) loss though your hydronic loop.

Also don't be afraid to Call Buderus, they have great minds over there, and there are training classes going on right now I think.

I have had a few customers that set up a chair next to their wall hung boiler and try to figure out what's going on and don't hesitate to call just to ask why this and why that.... so I feel your pain!!

But then again with energy prices climbing...can we blame them?

    Cosmo speaks the truth!!

The tech support at Buderus is second to none. Give them a call @ 1-800-BUDERUS. They will walk you through the problem...and sometimes you may NOT want to hear it...but it is sound advice. Chris
