Snowmelt in Gravel Picture
Went to the job today, first snowfall started yesterday and continued through the nite. Yesterdays temperature did not exceed 25 degrees, 9 degrees overnite and 4+ inches in about 36 hours.
Gravel exposed, yeah! Cannot wait for him to put down the granite chips, the limestone looks pretty crappy!

Well done Rob.
I think I see that RSM control. Do you plan on letting it run on auto or are they also going to control with a manual disconnect?

Looks Great!
Interesting Rob - Keep us posted on this.
Neat Install,0 -
These people are automatic all the way. I do have a switch wired to control each RSM so that they can turn them on and off manually but I don't see that happening.
Way above my budget!

very interisting
can you describe the system that the tube is in in more depth? I would be interested in knowing what the tubes are embedded in. Are the tubes in a sub strata of some sort and then the gravel laid on top? Very nice mechanical package by the way.0 -
Snowmelt Control
Looking for some suggestions on Snowmelt control. An Environmental Technology LCD-1H currently controls the system. All this device does is turn the system on once the temperature drops below 38*F & detects moisture & will run for (5) hours after the last moisture detection. It works, very basic, looking for something w/ a few more options. Would like to be able to control the Turn On temperature & run time & would like something that will send a message (E-mail) out when it starts running, & would also like the option to respond back to shut the system off remotely. Thanks.0 -

it's only money
Tekmar 667 control with a 090 senosor & 091 socket.
But who needs it. All your reset is already built into the knight!0 -
The insulation is...
2" Pink board, with tubing attached with rautacker staples, covered with 2" of limestone dust, compacted, stabilization fabric and 3+- inches of 2A modified limestone. There is a decent amount of slope and alot of undersurface drains to remove the excess water.
Thanks,

Got Snow melt???
I STILL want to take a nice aluminum bodied dump truck and cover the outside with extruded aluminum heat transfer plates, super bondo'd to the shell, spray foam insulation on the exterior, pipe it with copper, hook it up to an LP powered mod con boiler (s), and drive around melting peoples snow up in the mountains, and take the melted water back up to the ski resorts and sell it to them for snow making :-)

Investors anyone? :-)
