    Radiators heating up???

I've recently noticed that several of my radiators only heat up partially. One radiator down stairs; a narrow 4 column , two foot tall , 20 section radiator; and three upstairs (two small radiators in the same room, 3 narrow column, 10 section, 2 ft. tall, and one larger one in a room by itself,a narrow 4 column , two foot tall , 20 section radiator) seem to only heat on the top portion, not the bottom, and MAYBE heat on the first two sections of the radiator all the way through.

Is this a common problem? Should I try to vent them out more?
The radiators are recessed into the wall so I can't see what size vent they have.

The one I can see and reach, is a narrow 4 column , two foot tall , 20 section radiator that had a Gorton #5 vent on it. I followed Gortons diagram and changed it to a "C" size vent since it is large and is on the second floor. I can't tell if it is working.

How long does it take a radiator that size to heat all the way across top to bottom?

Should the bottom be as hot as the top?
