U Mass Extension cites: 1 gal waste vegetable oil/Biodiesel = 120,000 BTU (vs. 140,000 for #2 oil) for what it's worth.

Bioheat for home heating
Anyone using bioheat for home heating...B5, B20, or B100? Would be interested in hearing about experiences. Have you noticed similar BTU heating ability per gallon? Has the boiler tolerated the blends well? Thanks for any info.

No major issues...
...Boiler continues to purr like a kitten. Suntec signed off on B5 w/o issues, so that takes care of the most likely mode of failure. Chamber is clean as never before, no more black soot, no more sulfur, just some brown dust.
I have noticed some coking at the nozzle, which may or may not be the solenoid not cutting out cleanly. I had a tech here a month ago to fix that problem, have yet to inspect Ms. Vitola to see if that is behind her.0 -
overfire draft
I have noticed coking on all vitolas with incorrect OF draft. 0.00 or +0.01 is the target, have you checked yours?0 -
