well in some areas. certainly more of a rural area device. Even then with the right, or wrong, weather conditions they can bother a lot of neighbors.
A hot clean fire helps, as does the proper size unit or buffer tank.

New outddoor boilers
Some outdoor wood boiler manufacturers are changing their models to be more efficient with less polution. There is a voluntary EPA program for outdoor wood furnace manufacturers. Did anyone have a look at the new models like the Sequoyah Gasification Outdoor Wood Furnaces? Any comments?
