Hydronic Heat in the Southeast

Is usually a difficult sale in the SouthEast. You have to get the customer aware of the benefits by telling them virtually no-noise, draft free, and perfect for people with allergies.
You may have a harder time since you're behind the counter at a wholesaler than I do. (I'm a contractor northeast of Atlanta, GA).
Good luck.

Hydronic in the Central Southeast
I just recently moved to Central NC, Scorched Air Haven. I come from the Northeast where hydronic heat is the way to go. I have sold many hydronic systems on the retail side of things. Now I am on the wholesale side. When I talk to my customers about hydronic heat they look at me like I have a third eye. Looking for ideas to help my cause and or areas of the Southeast that are using hydronic heat with success.0 -
Thanks Jeff, I'm actually in outside sales. Being in Atlanta do you do alot with hydronics? I am aware of the allergy argument. what do you do to handle the allergy problem if you install hydronic. I have the big guys, Carrier, Trane, etc (and my company included) pushing air filtration.0 -
A lot?
No. I've found that down here, it's a harder sell. We still have to have the ductwork for the AC because 98% of people here can't handle the heat/humidity, so why get 2 separate systems?
I am currently bidding a job where one of the owners is allergic to a lot of stuff (but not pollen!). These allergies include the fillers in standard tile grout and cat fur even though they have cat(s).
Most people that want it have experienced it before up north somewhere or in Europe.
Regarding air filtration, in my opinion, you can't catch it all and the drafts from the blowers keep it stirred up. Along with that, I always include a media filter with any forced air change out we do. Most people are surprised at how much less dust they get.0
