Where should flow-check go in loop?

I think I know the answer, and then I doubt myself...

I'm Pumping Away (doesn't everybody?) with multiple circulator zones, and have always tried to put flow-checks as close to the 'other end' as possible, just before each zone's plumbing enters the common return manifold - I actually had to cut these into a inherited system that ghosted every which way. I now have the opportunity (and need) to rework some of the zone piping, and it would be much easier to have the flow-checks just after the circulators on the supply end. On odd numbered days this seems fine, and on even numbered days it doesn't 'feel' right.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Generally

Generally you see them in the supply just before the piping goes out to the system or just before a ball valve if used on the supply. A lot of guys pumping away are using IFC circulators to save a step.

There are time when 2 checks

may be needed. p/s with the circ piped off the top, vertically is one instance where two may be needed. Soft seat, low pop pressure checks at the discharge side of the circ works fine. Try the new model circs with intergral checks for a simple, quiet fix.
