  • Anybody...

Have experience with these people? They've approached me to join but I haven't had much luck with this kind of operation in the past so I'm a bit skeptical.

    Everycontractor.com

Tried it for a year. Expensive mistake. First they tell you it is this much to get your name on the list. Then they will contact you and tell you it will cost this much more for it to really pay off.
  • You guys,

should just join the "find a professional" list here, would it not be money "better spent" coupled with great exposure?

  • Yup, that's what I figured...

When I first started out I got scammed by this "Get on the .gov contractors list" thing. Also an expensive mistake. I figured as much for these people too. The giveaway was when I told him I'd check it out and give him a call back, he says, "OK, I'll call you tomorrow." Not what I wanted to hear. They're having a "special" $75 to join instead of $500. That raised a flag too. Friggin' scammers. Imagine if all the scammers in the world put their energy into worthy pursuits, what a better place it might be.

Thanks for the input. I'll look at the "Professional" thing here again.

    A suggestion

Type the word, "heating" into Google right now and see where we are in the rankings.

They are the ones who built and host my website

Overall, they have been excellent. They have had some personnell changes at times, for the better. Unfortunately, the leads they send us are often very large projects and/or too far...adjacent states. Mad Dog

  • First on mine...

    That's why I said WOW!! ;)

If you type in things like contractor or heating contractor "Everycontractor" is nowhere to be found. FYI, Heatinghelp comes up under heating but not heating contractor for me.

I'll tell you something else, the guy called today several times but each time hung up as soon as my machine picked up, sorry, I screen. I didn't care for that action either. I finally picked up on about the 4th call and told him I wasn't interested and to stop calling. He was still jabbering when I told him to have a nice day and hung up. I've been somewhat of a salesman for most of my life, I HATE the high pressure kind of selling this guy was pushing on me and it pretty much always results in a no sale with me. It stems from the days spent in San Diego as a young sailor and the high pressure sales jobs the "jewelers" on the main drag use to do on us trying to sell us some worthless piece of crap to be paid off by signing over a monthly allotment to them. You'd be amazed how many guys fell for it too.
  • Comes up 3rd...

under "Heating system". Not bad though. Still no "everycontractor" to be found. I'll probably take you up on that offer Dan. I'll register in a day or so when I feel a little more ambitious.

    Yahoo charges for placement.

Google doesn't. Google bases their Page Rank system on how many other sites are pointing at yours. The more sites that point at you, the higher the Page Rank. That's why we have so many people here from day to day. A tiny percentage of them post, but many listen.
