Viessmann boiler - tech spec?

The BE-29 was a nice unit,,too bad you seem to have gotten stuck with that "weird" burner!
You could place the "Hori-Cell" under, as it appears you have.
Great unit just the same!

Dave

Viessmann boiler - tech spec?

Hello,
Not sure if you can help ... I have just bought a house in France that has a 10 year old "Viessmann Vitola-biferral et" boiler installed, running on oil.

I have no paperwork for it and need to get it serviced. My local service plumber has asked if I can get hold of the Tech Spec, Install Guide, and Service Guide.

I've tried Viessmann direct but no joy - any ideas where I can get this stuff from please?

Many thanks,
Cally W

Just ask and you shall receive, I have the disc from Viessmann for many older models,,anything here look like yours?
Just let me know your series, and I`ll send you what you need!

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your reply - I'm all optimistic now and keeping fingers crossed! The model we have looks like the middle one of the 3 you have sent me (orange and black), except ours also has a water tank built in below.

None of the Series numbers mentioned on your pdf seem to bear any resemblance to numbers we can find on the boiler - here's what I have:

The circular black iron door is stamped at the bottom with "BV33/1 7205 422"

The orange casing has a different stamp on every face - the front top panel is stamped "VI 510 4459", and the front bottom panel (for the water tank) is stamped "VI 510 4679". Let me know if you need the others?

The only other thing I can tell you is the apparent number for the Trimatik Controller that sits on top - "7410 160/G".

Doesn't seem much to go on really ... ? Look forward to hearing back from you!

Thanks again,
Cally W

Hi Scrook,
Many thanks for these links. Unfortunately it looks like most of these are newer models than the one we have. The sellers told us it was around 10 years old ... but then sellers say lots of things when they want you to buy their house!
Anyway, the links to the various Viessmann global sites were useful in themselves, so thanks very much - never was very efficient at finding stuff on the internet myself! Don't think my brain works in the right way!
Best regards,

Try this pdf -

and then I must ask which burner? I have some manuals (for oil burners)from the fatherland which were not offered in north America. From an oil burner tech view: overfire draft must be to spec (-0.01 to 0.01 inwc with 0.00 the target) and is probably the most important consideration in setting the burner.

Hey Glen, thanks for your reply. I'm afraid you're getting a bit technical for me, but that's useful info to pass onto my service guy, thanks. I can't seem to access the pdf though .... How do I find out which burner it is - is there a stamp on it somewhere? Looks kind of similar to your jpg ...

Try saving it to your hard drive under "all files", it should open for you in Adobe.
Hope this helps.

Dave, thanks - that's worked.

Okay, ours looks like the one in the pdf (plus the water tank as I mentioned earlier), but how do I know if it is a series BEA, and of which model?

Glen, in answer to your other question the burner is apparently a Hofamat - Hoffmann Type K1M

Further thoughts VERY gratefully received, thanks guys.

Biferral

Is this it?
• I would suspect,

it`s their "chassis-burner" of some sort, without better model #s I`m stumped!
Sorry.

the info really is

for your service tech. Re the burner - let me look - I pirated the files of a fine German Hydronics Engineer before he retired. I may have it in the old standard: large format, cellulose based, graphite embossed, eg, pen and paper Now in which pile might it be ......????????

Try calling Viessmann again with this information.

Hofamat -

Even my Euro contacts shrugged on this one. Hansa or Riello or the Viessmann chassis burner are the most commonly used oil burners with the Vitola (BEA/VBC). Some parts are still available, pump (suntec) ignition transformer, safety relay, but the burner has been sold to a Chinese company: rights of production, design, name, everything! No longer made in Europe. You may what to change to either of the burners I mentioned above - for long term service availability and function. The boiler itself is essentially bullet proof - mate it with a new burner and you will have years of great service.

Well the plot thickens, but I think has become a little clearer?

Ancient old guy (150 yrs at least) from across the valley who we never met before got word of our quest and appeared last night ... seems his brother's-daughter's-husband's-brother helped in the original renovation of the house and was around during the install of the boiler.

He has found a virtually unreadable (and barely noticeable) plaque on the rear of the machine that is all but scratched off, but seems to indicate the letters "BT-29" and 29-34kW.

Does that mean anything to anyone???
Holds breath ....!

Hmm on the Burner Glen, sounds like a replacement would be a good idea in any event - don't want to enter winter here with a risk of it breaking down and having to wait months for a chinese shipment .... will speak to my service guy about it, thanks.

Cally
• Probably

a "BE-29", and I have the specs for that,,lost on your Hofamat burner though.

BE-29

Could it be BE-29? Biferral BE TDM

29-34 kW

29-34 kW (a measure of heating capacity) would be 99,000 - 116,000 BTU/hr to us backward, imperial system using Americans: it tells what size/capacity/firing rate it is.

A picture -

is worth many emails. Can you do that and post it? Regardless - a new burner is probably your best choice.

Hi All,
Thanks for the advice and responses, they really are so much appreciated. I don't think the BE-29 is the right model though? It just doesn't look right, and the mark on the unit is def BT-29 (incidentally 150yr old guy thought it was installed in 1987, not 1997 ....) I've been dreading you asking for a pic as I'm about as incompetent on the PC as I am with boilers, but I've had a go .... see if you can open the attachment ....

Cally
• Viessmann.........

Cally it sure looks like a BEA-29 here is a picture of mine, only it has a manual E/KR control rather than a Trimatic, however I do have Trimatic Data information. Under the Viessman burner cover is a Riello F-5 Input KW is 39, I hope this helps.

Hi All,
This whole house seems to have weird bits bolted on here and there, so I'm not surprised the burner is an oddity!

For the Boiler itself then, shall I give my guy the tech spec and install/service guide for the BEA-29?

And for the Trimatik Controller, if you have the data sheet/manual that would be great, thanks.

You've all been so helpful! What a nice forum, and thanks for not making me feel thick!

to be sure

measure the length of the combustion chamber and then compare to the info that has been sent. The boiler itself is not an oddity - but if you follow a thread or two here - you will find that the methods of piping and connection are as varied as the gang that hangs out here on the wall. Trimatik had two or three variations - here's a couple of bits of info.

Hi Glen, and everyone else too ...
I've measured the dimensions and it looks like the BEA is indeed the one, that's great news. And thanks for the Trimatik files Glen, but these look like later models than ours - Justme has posted some more that look to be the ones we need, so I think I now have everything I need to pass onto my service guy, and can look forward to a warm and safe winter. Will def look into changing that weird burner in the new year too.

Thank you all so very much - you've been very kind and patient. I really appreciate your help, and wish you all a fabulous Christmas and New Year.

Kindest regards,

Another Request

Hi Guys,

I was reading with interest the postings here. I have a similar problem. I am looking for a user manual/guide for a Viessmann Trimatik-P controller. I powered the complete system down during a Christmas vacation and now am stuck trying to reset the times.

I live in Germany but speak very litte German and my landlord has very little English. I'm sure I could figure it out if had a guide.

More info

Hi,

I cant manage a photo at the moment but here is a description and a (very) quick sketch. It says Viessmann Trimatik-P (with a K) on the front of the panel. It is attached to a Viessmann Rexola Biffera and a Viessmann Horicel.

The unit is 40cm by 12cm by 10cm and has some sort of german legend on the top. I hope the sketch helps. I can send a photo in a couple of days.

while your rendition

conveys the control nicely - it is still not quite like anything I have in my files. But - the basics (timing cube/selector switch) still look like the Trimatik MC.

but then -

I find a doc from Viessmann that lists your control. do you have a fax #?

viessmann headache

Hey Rory, I also shut the power off to my Viessmann and have no idea how to reset the digital control panel. Its been running for 2 months now on whatever default settings it goes to whenever this happens. I have been burning some serious heating oil. I just realized the reason why this evening(the blinking digital readout). The control unit I am working with is a Trimatik-P and I have all the manuals, unfortunately there are in deutsch. Where are you in Germany? I'm near Ansbach(close to Nurnberg) Dustin

There was an error rendering this rich post.
