They cant share lines at all. If the return line goes to the bottom of the tank use one line for each boiler with Tiger Loop for each boiler

    Firing Problems

    Hello I have question,

We have two Burnham boilers with Beckett AFG burners on them. They are both fed from the same fuel tank but have separate supply and return lines going to them. For some reason the boilers will "thump" every now and then and sometimes quiet badly. It seems to be like the fuel flow is interupted like there is air in the lines or the inline spin on filters are dirty but I just changed them. Is there anything we can do to stop the loud thumping and interuption of flame?

    Thanks

    Fuel Supply

Seems like you have a leak or flow problem with your fuel supply . First question , do both act up?Could be your supply set up. Too long of run with under sized tubing. Too much hight between fuel supply and burner.

Could be other problems. Air leaks or restriction .

    Firing response

Well there is really no height problem with the storage tanks and the boilers. When both are running they will sometimes act up together, but most of the time it is one boiler that does it more than the other. They share the same supply and return lines from the tank into the house then they branch off to a line for each boiler. The line is 1/2" o.d and runs about 50-60 ft I think. We could not find any visible leaks on the line, or would there be no visible signs?

    Thanks again

    System Tested

System needs to be tested to determine the problem .From here we are guessing..

Well those boilers have been running with lines like that for around 20 years and have not had any problems till just about 2 years ago.
