boiler solder or any boiler stop leak is not the answer .It is not something that i even consider to do but now that you have you better make sure your low water cut off is operating properly and is not getting clogged and also check the pig tail and pressure troll and lets not forget the safety valve ,make sure the pipe and inlet of the valve are clean and that the blow down is piped to the floor .I would recommend to replace the boiler before it becomes unsafe .The money you may save now may not be such a god send when bigger promblems arise .Safety first peace and good luck clammy

Silver King Stop leak
I came home today to find my steam boiler had a leak. I immediately went to my plumbing supply and picked up Silver King Stop leak...mixed it, poured it into the top of the boiler, let the girl come to 1.5 pounds of steam for about 5 minutes...the leak seems to have stopped. As the boiler was running, it then began short cycling. I obviously need to drain the bolier, refill it, etc...but how long should I wait to do this....? Otherwise, I can see the water in the glass priming and foaming and jumping like crazy....So, right now, I have it shut down....0
