peerless 211-11 steam boiler overfilling

From what you write, it sounds like a new installation, is that correct? Given the information you have provided, is the boiler surging? How are you dealing with boiler feed water, Is there a boiler feed system or is the M&M 51 acting as the feeder? If so, is it new or used, have you done a broken union test to see if it might be feeding by, what other controls are on the boiler? How was the boiler sized, are there old wet returns, what is the radiation like, condition of vents traps if two pipe etc. Where is the job located and I guess my first question should have been, with all due respect, have you worked on anything like this before? Provide us with some more information and we'll see how we can help you.

    boiler overfilling

i am working on a boiler that keeps overfilling every two to three days. the steam boiler is a peerless 211-11 and has a mm #51-2. the gas pressure is at 3" water column. the pressure is at 1#. it is being run off an rd control. i have skimmed and cleaned the boiler 4 times already. i have inmstalled a vacuum breaker and even tried SQUICK, to weigh down the water. any suggestions?

the boiler is 6 tears old. the only feed system is the 51. there are underground returns that run throughout the building. i checked the fedder and it is not leaking through. the air vents are good and seem to be working. the boiler is located in chicago. the main header pipe is not piped exactly to peerless specs, but has been working fine in the past. it is a one-pipe system. the return is piped according to the book though.

i have a similar problem reported in "MYSTERIOUS MIGRATION OF WATER" on this board with my one month old peerless 211a 1050,000 btu .i do not have an auto fill system so it just "misplaces" water [sometimes below the electronic lwco which requires a reset-inconvenient!]when i have added a small amount of water the burner starts up again and the waterline rises up again.i put a ball valve on the return and closed it for a test so i know that it is neither blowing out through the returns, nor is it coming back from the returns [other than normal flow].my amateur theory is that there is either a vacuum inside the boiler sections after flame-out lifting the 5-6 gallons of water up into the upper chamber of one the sections--or some sort of debris clogging part of the section which alters its steaming characteristics so that it is more to steam bubble collapse.if you hear about any useful info regarding this problem please let me know--nicholasbc@aol.com
