old radiator traps
I have several old non-functioning radiator traps that I removed to replace them with modern ones that are servicable. However I hate to throw them away, they are so beautiful. They appear to be made of nickel, by H&M Engineering Co., Pittsburgh. Probably 100 years old since that is the age of our house. If anyone thinks these can be repaired and put to use, I will post them on Craigslist or such.0 -

e-mail me off-list and we'll set it up.

Outboard traps
Notice where the union nut is? Those traps went in "backwards" to the way modern traps are installed. The trap element sat outboard of the seat, and the steam.
They sure were a pain to get the cover back on without having the element cock sideways.
Ask me how I know.

I guess I did the right thing to replace with new ones!0 -
Yes, you did the correct thing for you.
Also, by giving them to a person who is the Guru in "Steam Systems", you have also added to the continued legacy of those that came before us.
Great credit to you in recoginizing that fact.

The question was, how many had turned and which ones were they (after discovering the first one)?
