I have a steam two way boiler system. I was advised that the vent valve has to be bleed once a year. Is this true or must there be a problem with the system which would lend to the bleeding. My system works fine except that I get a sound of escaping steam. thanks Dennis

reluctant steam radiator

I have steam. All house radiators work correctly except one in basement set horizontal on the ceiling. Previously was totally cold. Now just had new valve and new vent installed, and pitch checked, and now it is still cold at 71 thermostat or below, but if I crank the temp to 74 or higher, about half the radiator gets hot with half furthest from valve staying cold. Shouldn't the whole radiator heat same as all other units in house, at low or high temps?

must have thought you have hot-water. Steam systems release air automatically.
