Hi, We are having a new steam boiler installed next week. I asked the contractor about installing a stack damper. He said Weil Mclain did not offer one for the LGB 8. Does this sound correct? Why would it not be offered?
Thanks, Mike
Thanks, Mike

I am certain they are...
available.
Since it is not a "packaged boiler" item, perhaps your installer was unaware they exist?
They do improve efficiency substantially, something on the order of 8-10% if memory serves. They are pricey however. Still worth the investment IMO.

from Weil Price Sheet & our local distributor. No dampers on any size LGB.

Ron is correct!
I mistook the LGB for a PFG. Mia culpa!
There would be no purpose in installing a vent damper on an open ended draft hood. Duhhh.
Sorry if I mis-lead you. They don't make a damper for the LGB, nor would one improve anything. Perhaps prevent some warm boiler room air from going up the chimney...
Thanks for correcting me Ron
