Recently installed new weil mclain peg 65 gas steam boiler for a customer. The installation went all to well at the time.As the heating season went into full swing I received a call tha t one of the convectors was spewing water from the vent, about a cup a day.And so I began to think back what did I do wrong? The system is a one pipe steam system with three supply runs.Only one of these supply runs am I having problems with. The convector I am having problems with is the last one on the line on the fist floor before back into the return.I have the pressurtrol set .05psi.When the system cycles for a long time you can hear the codensate coming up the main and out the vent.Of cource I thought the convector was not pitching to main so pitched and replaced the vent with a hoffman 1a set to vent slow. Also replaced main vent with dole #5 thinking it wasnt releasing condensate and pushing it up into convector. The real puzzle piece is the convector no one has ever seen one like it.It consists of a 1inch riser on the right of the unit where it goes into the leg connecting the fin tube portion up to the end of the convector vent comes off the top,out of the bottom of the return leg connects a 1/2 od copper line which runs under fin tube before connecting into supply there is a 3/8 check valve of some sorts(has a ball in it loosly fitted).a close nipple connect this into the supply leg.The one thing I found strange when system was acting up I disconnected copper line a full cup of condensate came out. Even looked the great big book E.D.R. could not find this animal.Am I over thinking this one or am I missing something simple. The local guys I have asked came up empty with suggestions.Befor changing the boiler this of cource was never a problem. Now I am married to this job no one else.Any help or any one I can call on this problemwould mean a great deal to and to my customer, thanks.....
