water temp radiant in gypcrete under hardwood floors

Built a radiant house had everything sized by supply house and they gave me water temps for diferrent zones. Hardwood floor zone is set for 110 degrees with outdoor reset, on cold days floor is making cracking sounds on heat up. Intallation is 9" on center with 2x3 sleepers 18" on center. I also have floor sensor set at 65min 75 max. There is no sign of floor buckeling minor cupping is all. I hope floor just needs to settle.
  • Set it and forget it...

Radiant floor heating systems, especially those with any kind of mass behind them are not conducive to set back conditions. What you are hearing is the whole floor expanding and contracting. If you leave it set for a given temperautre, the noise should decrease significantly.

The point of conservation should be the heat source, not the distribution system. If you have so many air leaks that you feel the need to set the system back at night or whenever to save energy, then you need to invest in a blower door test and identify those points of infiltration and eliminate them with foam in a can and caulk.

    Set it and forget it...

Start low, and go up slow...
