solo 110 install

Bob, last time I checked they were not wanting the manifolds to be installed upside down for two main reasons. One, over time they will leak through the ballancing valves. Two the flow indicator will not work upside down. According to the Watts agents around here the only way, other then properly upright, that they want to see those wonderful stainless headers is on a 90 degree to the wall. This wouldn't be too hard to correct. That aside though, nice install!

    yep

it is. With care and attention, it can look as straight as copper, with out inhaling all those flux fumes. I am pretty much solderless these days. The b tank has been retired for a Mapp bottle for occasianal sweat work.

    Piping

Look's nice, but i see that you are "Pumping Into " the expansion Tank and is'nt there a need for a couple checkvalves on the joint return of the Domestic Waterheater/System Return ?

    using

the factory internal circ for heating. No P/S needed here.

No need for checks on returns- Superbrutes have IFC's.

Well when using the boiler circ as the primary circ the proper spot for the air separator is downstream of the circ. You need the hottest water possible for micro bubble absorption. As long as you are using a micro bubble air scoop that is.

That said I would still install the fill system on the boiler return to allow fresh water to be heated before going through the air separator. This will allow the micro bubbles to come out of solution.

    nope

checked w/ Watts factory on that before install-been there and done that and had the same concerns. No problem was the word-w/ these manifolds, anyway. I like how the PDB is a bolt on. Thanks to the HO for that heads up. If actuators were being used, that would be a different story. I had a devil of a time getting the right manifold nuts to match up to the FP/crimp. Oh, I wish there was more compatable cross referencing between PEX manufaturers..maybe someday. Thanks for the compliment!

    then

the x-tank would be lonely all by itself hanging off the scoop! :)

The X-Tank should always be located wherever the fill system is. The air scoop should be completely stand alone in your case.

Caleffi wrote a great paper on this discussion in their Idronics magazine. You should check it out!! It's really good. Changed my perspective on air removal.

    Prestige Internal Circ

Are you saying that the internal 15-58 circ now has a built-in flow check?

    Hi Rick

Same to you and yours as well!
And thanks for the Norris thread. Funny stuff! I told it to my 80 year old dad last night. He has been caring for my Mom who has been terminal and fighting it for a year now. They refuse all but the minimum outside care, so he dotes on her pretty much 24/7.

It was good to hear him break into laughter.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. This should bring a smile to your Dad's face.
