Pumping away question.

will work. I like the Hydrolink port as it provides a nice solid mount to hang from. Be sure to use the upper port for an air vent. That mix chamber acts as an air (purger) trap. I think Caleffi includes one with the 'link.
I like to add an air vent up high on the Ultras. If you don't use the upper connection that's a great place to add one.
The Knights and a few others have a factory installed air vent right on the HX header.

So
If I'm using a mod/con boiler like the WM Ultra or the Burnham Freedom with a Caleffi hyro-link or hydraulic separator, and I'm pumping into the boiler as per manufacturers' instructions, where do I put the compression tank?
In other words, let's say I've got
THIS.
Assuming my pump is between the manifold and the boiler on the blue return piping, where do I put my compression tank?

I would put the water fill/exp tank between the manifold and the pump, in the return line. That way you're still pumping away from the point of no pressure change.0 -
Sounds good.
...but I feel like it should go on that little bottom tapping on the hydrolink along with the make-up water feed.
Any thoughts?
