    would never make such a colossal mistake. Unfortunately, at that time the military completely dominated the government of Japan, and no one else's opinion was heard.

    I remember hearing the news sitting in the car after church. At 15 the world news was the last thing on my mind. Girls were number 1 LOL But I thought to myself, why would they go to war over pearls (Pearl Harbor) So these were the thoughts and memories of a Missouri farm boy who joined the Navy Jan. '43

    Pearl Harbor in a North Carolina farm house. December 7 always reminded the family my birthday was coming. When we got together for Birthday dinners, the conversation always turned to my Uncle, who didn't came back from the Pacific.

    They couldn't help it. I'll never forget it. Wish they were still here.
