Snowmelt

Hello all, I am involved with a snowmelt project that has a Taco flat plate HX and a condensing boiler. The HX was sized for the load at high temp on the HX. Should there be a mixing valve on the snowmelt side of the HX. What
controls the temperature out in the slab ? Will modulation of the boiler vary that temperature so that there are high temperature swings going to the slab ? It is a Baxi HT165 with a Tekmar 665 control, that has the snowmelt/precip socket and sensor. There is also a zone of inslab that is heating the garage. That zone has a mixing valve on it.

    Why the heat exchanger?

that boiler could hook direct to the snowmelt, I'd use a hydro-separator.

Then you take the HX, cost, pressure drop, efficiency, and dual expansion tanks, relief valves, etc out of the price. Set the boiler for the design supply and let the tekmar turn it on.

I have Ultras, Contenders, Prestiges, and Munchkins all on various snowmelts.

I would suggest a good multi metal anti freeze. Rhomar Rho Guard or Nobel.
