QUIT YELLING...AND START A NEW THREAD. YOU ARE NOT GETTING NOTICED HERE! THIS IS KNOWN AS HIJACKING.

Turn the caps lock off. A new thread will get a lot ore responses than trying to get in on an existing one.

More info, make model, type of heat etc will help.

Saying I have no heat means nothing if you want help. it could be ANYTHING

    STart Up in Cold weather

I would like any comments or suggestions for a fill and purge followed by a start up in this cold weather. 2800 square foot slab, with Trinity boiler.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Make sure the slab is above freezing

if you are filling the tubing with water. I have heard the tubes will freeze up before you can get the boiler started. Also expect a very long heat up time, especially if you have little or poor insulation under the slab..ie Bubble foil or anything else under R-5. We're talking weeks or months and maybe it will not heat properly at all this winter if the boiler is sized close to the load.

    How is it piped?

If it's primary secondary and you have valves on the loops, you might fill and fire the boiler to assure it works before filling the floor loops.

generally the ground under the slab would not be below freezing this early, depends on your location and recent temperatures I suppose.

I use Webstone ball valves with the purge port. Properly placed one should be all you need to get the system purged. I purge one loop at a time until it runs clear water, shut off, and move to the next loop.

With a properly sized boiler I would expect to feel some floor warming within 24 hours. meeting room setpoint could take a few days if you are at design conditions.

Have a compressor handy should you run into a problem, to blow out the loops.

Or enough anti freeze to protect the loops.

it is basically a waste of energy to pump cold water through a

radiant slab in winter...an antifreeze mix is the best idea. running the boiler up is smart money,... you can remove the anti -freeze once you have established return fluid temps through the individual zones, however, ,it is fairly expensive these days.

    Slab was not too cold

I never checked the slab temp until today. 48 degrees at the garage door, even though we have had 20's for a few days. Filled the system and fired up. Running well.

    Thanks,

    Rob
