Painting PVC (Youngster)

I haven't yet tried it but Krylon has a spray paint line called FUSION which is specific for painting plastic. You would need to clean the PVC and rough it up. I would try a flexible abrasive pad of perhaps 100 to 180 grit. If this were not for actual plumbing work, I would pre-clean with a solvent such as M.E.K. or laquer thinner. I think you have to be very careful with strong solvents around PVC as you don't know if the solvent will compromise the integrity of the PVC. Best to call a paint manuf. for info.

Admittedly I no nothing about paint. What kind of paint should I use for PVC SCH 40? Seems everything I have used never sticks.

pvc is super slick. it needs a light sand and then a wipe clean - anything will stick to that surface.

I'm no paint expert either but we spec polyurethane enamel, two-component, aliphatic or acrylic based polyurethane, high gloss finish. Sherwin Williams DTM Acrylic Primer/Finish. Apply over clean PVC.

I just listen to the guys at Tnemec and Sherwin Williams.

    As stated above, but

I just was thinking. Clean the PVC w/ the solvent. Remember how it gets kind of rough to the touch? Give it a test shot. I would use a wash cloth not the little brush in the can. Let me know cause I am curious too.
