Here is a new one on me. This was installed in-line on a main water supply to a home. It is made out of galv. steel and has a sealed copper canister full of what seems to be a carbon material that smells very strongly like peppermint or the stuff I used to use on my sore muscles after football practice. Maybe this falls into the same category the strap on magnents.
