1 Pipe Steam System

I have a single pipe steam system with two seperate furnaces. Both of the furnaces are old (20+ years) and one has a crack and needs to be replaced. I would like to convert to a single high-efficiency furnace. The house is 2 stories, 2600 square feet and long (90'on 1st floor) and narrow. Therefore, the steam must travel a significant horizontal distance and this may be the reason two furnaces were installed. One furnace is located at one end of the house and the other is roughly in the middle. Can I convert to a single furnance and still keep the single steam steam?

It may be possible, but there are a lot of things that would need to be looked at by a professional. There was an error rendering this rich post.

Sure you can
but I'm not sure how it's tied together so you'd need a good steam man to sort everything out. Where are you located? Have you tried the Find a Professional page of this site, under Resources above?
