Dwyer 1200 calculator

Hi
My Dwyer 1200 calculator says it is NOT necessary to subtract the room temperature from the stack temperature reading when using the slide calculator to determine combustion efficiency??? How is that accurate, when the amount of energy lost to flue gases isn't taken into account?
