Does it occur while starting?

Stopping?

Running?

Cooling down?

Combustion related?

Always occurs?

During colder days rather than not so cool outside?

Mechanical in nature (as opposed to system water related)?

Have you heard it?

How many times a day? How many tyimes a night?

Any other appliances nearby? Dryer, washer, exhaust fan, water softenor?

Any pets in the home?

Age of home?

Does any particular "action" cause the noise?

Call the owner with these questions before headin' out.

    Wierd sound from Boiler room

Got a customer with a new Slant-FIn on/off direct vent boiler (intake and Exhaust) with new Indirect DHW. It's piped P/S to secondary loop. There's 3 high temp zones w/ cast iron baseboard zones and one low temp in-floor radiant zone. The low temp zone uses VFD mix injection pump (Boiler requires 130F minimum). The high temp zones operate with wet rotor circulators (no zone valves). This is a replacement boiler. Previous boiler was atmospheric with no zoning. Had one pump and three way zone valve for the infloor. The existing system is piped with Monoflo tees. We also have a scrubber with autovent on secondary loop. Expansion tank (Diaphram)is connected on suction side of the secondary loop circulator.
Customer complains about intermittent noise from the boiler room... Sounds like a dog "Yip" "yip" "Yip", Kinda high pitched. These were sound heard previously before the boiler was replaced. Any ideas before we go out there?
