Edge insulation for a radiant slab

Is it important to go down below grade 2' to 4', with the edge insulation around the inside perimeter of the foundation, or is it O.K. to just go down 6" to meet the under slab insulation. They have already backfilled. Thanks, Bob Gagnon

    frost line?

    wheres the frost line?

can't remember the name but theres a method where you go down so deep then out horizontally about 2 ft, its in the code book(slab insulating).

if i were to go just down, I try to do a foot or two below frost line.

    Slab ins.

Bob, I just take mine down flush with the bottom of the under slab insulation. If you went down deeper you may keep some cold out from under your slab insulation but how much good that's going to do is questionable, laws of diminishing returns and all :) And really if it's outside of the "envelope" you're trying to insulate I'm not so sure it would do any good. IMHO
