Steam system , Ken , ,megaloc & rectorseal #5 man. nipples & cut pieces ran up one inch per thread. no teflon , no wick. normal torque with proper wrenches.

    Anyone notice black mal. fittings are getting even worse . DID NOT THINK IT POSSIBLE. with normal torque thread on 2 1/2 " to 4 " is running up a full one inch . most of the time. even ward. where is stanley flagg when ya need him ? the chinese set pipefitting back about a million years.

    We thought the treads were being cut too deep. No, the fittings stink. More issues with them than I care to go into again. It costs $ to do it twice.

    You would think that by now the demand for quality fittings would dictate that the suppply houses stock them. But that hasn't been our experience. If you have a few weeks to pre order you can get what you want or spend the $ upfront and inventory them yourself.

    And the dope being used?

    And, the intended purpose of the steel pipe?

    Teflon tape? Oil-based paste? Alcohol based paste? Brand name of dope?

    Gas pipe? Steam pipe? Water based heating system?
