Need to EDR this radiator

I believe that many rads of that style have one sq.ft. EDR per tube. Watch out--I believe those rads can <B>only</B> be used on steam systems as the tubes are not connnected across the top.

I'm thinking of purchasing several of these (see pic attached) radiators to replace some plain ones I have in prominent areas of my home. I am awaiting the height/width # of tubes info, but once I have that, do the usual "tube/column" EDR tables apply to these? Thanks.

    Well, sort of...

If you want a "new look" based on victorian glitz, the Burnham line is knock-dead gorgeous.

    Take a look: http://www.burnham.com/classic_radiators.htm

but you can find ratings for them in the Library... that one should be a Nason (may not have any name on it), Bundy (A.A. Griffing) or Reed (H.B. Smith).

    Unless you find someone...

local, do you have any idea how much it costs to ship a 100 lb. radiator?

If you buy from a Burnham wholesaler, the shipping's included with their next boiler shipment, which is typically cheap as hell (when compared to used rads shipped from any distance other than cross-town).

Of some concern; if someone sells you some used rads, who pays for any leakers found? Oh, they're warranted against leaks? Used radiators are fraught with logistical nightmares. You drag it upstaiurs, find it is 1/2" taller than the existing angle-stop joint and have to modify piping untouched for 75 years... Or, a leaker doesn't appear until the outdoor temps drop to 5 above - two months from now... Or, the vent thread is stripped... Or the shipping caused a hidden weakness to become serious... Or, no one has the EDR closer than 20% +/- per rad... Or, the labor required to "clean-up" the used rad exceedes the remainder of your projected life-span... Or, you break the springs on your new pickup from the pot-hole that wasn't there yesterday - but is the day you bring 'em home...

    Ken,

Fortunately, I can pick these up rather than deal with shipping. I need to inspect them first. My wife is an interior designer. I showed her the Burnham. She said get these instead. Since I want that Nintendo Wii for Christmas, I will go along with her on this.

    No doubt about it...

    You've made a wise choice.

    Christmas Wii vs. classy rads?

No contest (;-o) Why is it women are so damn smart.
