    They did the water heater segment last week. It was very interesting. I did not realize the power that was developed. It made a strong case for checking the T&P vale!

    As an aside, when a previous owner of my home changed out the boiler DIY, he overlooked many safety and performance issues. One of which was the installation of a water heater T&P on the boiler. The T&P was rated at 150psi/212F(if I recall), and of course, the boiler was rated 50psi for hot water!

    ...and the relief rate required by the boiler is about 190MBTU/HR, but the T&P was good for about 100!


    It ran that way for 16 years, and fortunately no one blew up. Maybe that was because the entire system was run without any(zero, nada, none...) air vent for several years before I bought the house. So maybe half the system was its own expansion tank *laugh*

    No wonder they complained it never heated well and some of the valve stems leaked *sigh*
