laars endurance ebp question

Does anyone know what error code "rty" stands for?

Its calling for heat & or hot water - actually it would recharge buffer tank first.

I get the circ indicator top left side, then the middle indicator for pilot flame, then the third indicator on the right side, hear the main valve open and it lights. Runs for a few seconds, temp rises a few degrees to maybe 90, then it shuts down, and then I get rty error.

Unit is a few months old and has been running fine till now.

I cannot find this error code when I RTM (read the manual)..

    rty = Retry for ignition

    Hi Allen,

    It sounds like the boiler is lighting, but not proving the flame back to the ignition control, which is why it is caught in this cycle of trying for ignition, lighting, and then failing to prove that the flame has been established.

    I would check the terminations on the yellow flame proving wire, and make sure they are secure, and properly crimped on the wire. From there, if you have a meter that can read the flame micro-amps, you can connect it in series with the yellow wire, and see if the current is between 5 and 8 micro-amps to the ignition control.

    If the flame signal is weak, you will most likely need to replace the flame rod and ignitor assembly. It's rare that the problem is with the ignition module.

    Sincerely,

    Paul Bock, Applications Engineer, Laars Heating Systems Company

    Before replacing parts

    You should check, or have checked, the gas pressure and the combustion gases. Just because it worked "fine" until now doesn't mean it really was "fine". This could be the culmination of prolonged use out of spec.
