Id put a check valve on your return and trap the supply.
Just drain the boiler, put some ball valves after your tees and you can fill the boiler up again and let her rip while you connect the staple up.

Adding to an old monoflow system
The project is an older home with a monoflow heating system. Unheated crawlspace below the master bed/bath area. Owner has requested a staple up under said areas. I have the tubes run, insulation in, and all lines connected to a Zurn manifold, connected to a Taco RMB-1. I want to take my supply for the RMB-1 from a tee I'll cut into the existing boiler supply. My return from the RMB-1 will be on the existing boiler return, between the existing circ and the boiler. Will there be a problem with this? (it's winter here in Alaska and boiler 'down time' must be kept to a minimal)0 -
Thanks
I think trapping the supply is a very welcomed reminder. The Taco folks told me the return on the RMB-1 is already equipped with a check. Thanks for your input, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours...0
