    i mac

    ME,

I'm sure you're going to love that new mac. Give yourself a week to "unlearn" windows and see how a good user interface is suppose to look. Be sure to check out the ability for live video chating with the built in camera.

Lots of very cool stuff to explore on that new machine - especially with the OS 10.5 operating system.

    Welcome to the club.

    Thanks bob...

Ya taught me something new today. I signed up for 52 sessions with the Apple Speak/Teach Geeks, just haven't made my reservation yet.

Where does one find the "apple speak/teach geeks"? I've had my iMac for a while but don't know all its wonders yet.

    neat short cuts

command-shift-4 puts a cross hair on the screen- drag it over the image on the screen and it places that image on the desktop. That's how i move HydroniCAD drawings and other pics to the wall. Thanks Siggy for that one.

Max has a bunch of other one stroke short cuts he shared with me.

Find a college student with an i- mac. They will have all sorts of short cuts to share.

I really like the i-tunes for buying music and burning my own CD. So does the rest of the family.

    At the Apple Store...

It's called One on One, and it costs $99.00 for 52 sessions, No make up classes allowed, so you need to dedicated 1 day a week for a year.

    right click is available...

If you go into the system preferences, choose Mouse & Keyboard, then you can set the mouse tracking speed, and assign functions to the buttons (there are actually 4 on the current "mighty mouse" that ships standard with new Macs).

Also take a few minutes to look at the keyboard shortcuts tab in there. You will find handy shortcuts for many common functions, and learn about functions that you would never have found otherwise.

I've been using Mac's for decades now, and just started working for Apple a few months ago...

In one of your other posts I noticed that you spelled out delta-T. No need with your new Mac. Hold down option and hit j and you get ? ! How's that. Option O(zero) will give you º for degrees. I got these tips from Siggy.
Edit: Well when I type this I get a cute little triangle for option j , but when I check it in preview the wall changes the triangle to a question mark? ?

    Mac Books

If you go to the Apple store or just a regular book store. There are pretty good books on Macs.
I bought OS X revealed and Macs for Dummies. They help, but I still don't know all the short cuts and getting the full use out of my MAC.

One thing I like about my Mac is that it is very friendly for neophytes like me. I can't make big boo boo's with the thing, and if an application locks up , I can force quit that app, without affecting the rest of the computer.
