Non oxy barrier tubing

utilizing a condensing boiler/stainless HX. Customer spoke with manuf. rep in regards to the boiler I'm proposing, the rep had no problem coupling the boiler with non/oxy tubing. Providing the use of non ferrous metals in the system. I proposed a flat plate HX between boiler water and system water .

Anyone have an issue with coupling a condenser with non oxy tubing.

    is it a large system?

1oo's of gallons of anitfreeze? what size flatplate?

in my very simple way i am asking Why?. What benefit do you see in it?

  • if the MFG will stand by the boiler, why also use a heat exchanger?

My only potential issue with open systems is glycol doesn't like oxygen, so if the system might ever need glycol, you're shortening its lifespan. Since it's hard to see what the future will bring, I *generally* choose not to gamble with non barrier pipe these days.

    Non-barrier tube

I would verify that the boiler manufacturer has no problem with non-barrier tubing and get it in writing if at all possible. If they will provide that, I see no problem as long as it makes sense financially.

    non ferrous

doesn't all the other non ferrous components pump, valves etc cost more than iron pumps and such? would it make it more costly of an install?
