Cutting oil

What kind of cutting oil do you prefer for threading pipe??
Has anyone noticed any difference in the quality of the threads cut when using different oils. Clear, Dark etc.
I always seem to have better luck with the dark oil.
Sometimes you have to take what the supply house has.
I usually have trouble with tearing threads if I don't use the dark oil. (no it's not the dies)
