How can I tell if the boiler is currently working at the settings of the pressure trol that is set?
I have a pressure guage but it reads in lbs and wont be effective.

You will need a pressure gauge of
the appropriate scale, Pedro. McMaster-Carr has them in ounces if you like, available on-line. I have already ordered some from Winters before I got word about M-C, but they have not arrived yet.
The gauge you have on the boiler is a code requirement, not particularly useful as an instrument, just a safety device.
A gauge reading 0-5 PSI should be fine with a pressuretrol and if you are using a vaporstat, 0-32 ounces (0-2.0 PSI) would be better."If you do not know the answer, say, "I do not know the answer", and you will be correct!"
