steam traps removed-60 unit co-op bldg?????

Our superintendant revealed to me that when unit owners complain about inadequate heat, he just takes the guts out of the steam traps on their radiators (2 pipe system). I asked because when going to change a radiator, I got steam from the drain side. I know this turns the walls into an enormous inefficient radiator and wastes energy. What else (bad) does it do? (wondering whether to make a fuss about it).

    not kidding, and

I had to weasel it out of him. I need a bit more info on the "whole lot of trouble," as i can't "all a pro" the building manager has to do it and I have to go over the guy's head to do it. How about a few more words?
He may only have done this on half a dozen units (I'm guessing). But if it winds up costing a fortune, all shareholders, like me, will share the cost of fizing it.
    Thanks

well to start with you are going to have live steam wondering around your return side of the system which will cause more trap failures. you also pressurise your return which will stop condensate from returning causing water level problems. you can also lock a chunk of air in the system which will stop sections of the building from heating .dont ignore this problem it will not go away it will just get worse

The second half of this article talks about failed steam traps on two pipe systems. I was in your shoes, on these jobs...
