garage heat

With all the people converting from oil to gas you could probably get a used oil furnace and oil tank in good condition for free. That is the direction I would be looking.... That being said I heat my own garage with a propane fired Modine hot dawg that was mentioned by someone else and it works wonderful!!

    heat for garage

    Hi,

I moved in to a new house with an attached double garage, insulated and approx. 20' x 20'. There is no heat source in it and I would like to put in a wired-in heater with a thermostat and off switch. I would ideally like to keep it at room temp since I will have cars, hockey gear, and my on going home crafted beer (needs room temp when being made)all in there all winter. This may be too hard on the heating bill so I may settle for 55-60 degs. I live in Nova Scotia where the winters don't get below freezing all that often. One electrician recommended a 3000 watt overhead heater with a fan (price with install was more than I want to pay), while others have said to go with a longer baseboard unit from Home Depot, but the garage won't heat up as fast. Any advice on this?

    Thank you very much,

    Tim

    What's the ....

What is the heat source for the home?

I figure that will make a big difference in your choices, and home brewing WILL make a big difference in our answers! (just a word of warning.) Chris

    garage heat

IF you have, or have access to gas, look into a Modine Hot Dawg heater....mounts at the ceiling, is direct vent and works like a champ. Have installed many and they work great and are economical to run.
