What would be more effiecent . I have three baths , three kids. What would be more cost effective a indirect h.w.h hoohed up to an oil system 2ooo or an tankless propane tagiaki h.w.h.If I want to get every penny out of my dollar when it comes to heating hot water . Whats the better way to go?

    personally,

I would go for the indirect. Since you already have a very efficient boiler, why add another fuel, electric, venting, and maintainence??? Indirects are very simple, efficient, and long lasting. Service calls are typically minimal, and for several brands - LIFETIME WARRANTY's. Tankless heaters are great in some applications, but with three kids and already a boiler to drive it,no brainer.

    I would

use the EK flate plate setup it will allow the boiler to purge to a lower temp than a standard indirect

  • I need more info. Where is the boiler located? If it is in a damp location, no question, add an indirect. This would require the boiler to run all summer and when heat is not needed, but would lengthen the life by keeping your boiler dry. However, if there is no need to keep “exercising” the oil burner in the summer months, go with a Rinnai tankless. The size of the family is not an issue; the heater will run until the demand is met. The factor to address is max GPM. Will the dishwasher be running while a kid takes a shower and your wife is washing the vegetables, or will just one shower be running at a time? The properly sized tankless, with electronic ignition, will only run when NEEDED, saving energy and providing endless hot water. By the way, it’s not a hot water heater (h.w.h) but a water heater.

    would you mind

explaining this a bit further. I'm not clear on what you were proposing.
