comparing different fuels

I'd take oil over propane unless the propane was much cheaper (say less than about 2/3rd's) per gallon than the oil, e.g $3.00/gal oil vs. $2.00/gal propane.

comparing different fuels
with todays fuel prices and the high efficiencies of gas i was thinking of switching from oil until i found this site. i found it helpful and wanted to share it.0 -
Think again!
The data is seriousl;y flawed and reflects an abberation in market prices for oil vs. gas as well as providing no data on the AFUE rating of wood stoves; a serious contender in upstate NY and/or where I live, norther VT.
Market forces (we have a relative abundance of NG and a huge demand for oil and all its derivitives. Been to the gas station in the past week?
I see the wholesale rack price for heating oil is now ~$2.60/gallon. The retailer typically adds on a 50-60-cent "spread." Oil at well over 3-bucks a gallon - and rising - is a no brainer.
NG is the answer.

im sorry for not being more complete with my next choice of fuel which would be propane. natural gas is not available and i am unable to burn wood. do you think oil would be better.0
