Furnace

Thermostat is on Heat. The furnace doesn't 'kick' on when the thermostat is turned up and the autoatic fan doesn't come on - But if you leave it on heat and turn the fan ot "on" (runs constantly) heat does blot out of the ducts. Do I need a new thermostat or is this another problem?

when you put it on 'on', are you sure just air is not coming out? It is likely just air, and not heat. This could be anything from a igniter to a spill switch to the gas valve. You should call a pro if you are not mechanically inclined.

  • You mean

it wont "fire", could be anything from a power switch turned off,,,to a pilot light out.
I would suggest calling someone-in for a look see.

That sound like a problem in the relay, wiring. or one speed in the fan being burned out! You really need to get someone there to check out the system for you.

The fan "on" on the thermostat normally runs the fan at a different speed than the "auto" fan. The fan controll could be bad, or it could be one of the other reasons mentioned. This is impossible to determine without looking at the unit!
